When Davey Boy and Dynamite Kid joined the WWF, they had Captain Lou Albano as their manager, & were known as the British Bulldogs. At WrestleMania 2 the British Bulldogs with Albano and Ozzy Osbourne in their corner, became WWF Tag Team Champions. Defeating the WWF Tag Team Champions at the time, the Dream Team (Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake). The Hart Foundation with their manager Jimmy Hart, attacked the Bulldogs on several occasions in late 1986, which resulted in Dynamite Kid sustaining a serious injury. In January 1987 the Bulldogs went up against the Hart Foundation, the Bulldogs came out on the loosing end.
After Survivor Series 1988, they realised that they wouldn't get a fair shot at the WWF Tag Team Titles, so they went back to Calgary Stampede, where the British Bulldogs were founded. The Bulldogs returned to Calgary Stamped by defeating the Cuban Commandoes for the Stampede International Tag Team Titles, for the second time as a team. The Bulldogs lost the titles 18 days later. Dynamite Kid blamed Davey Boy for the loss, & attacked him, which resulted in the team spliting up.
With the split of the British Bulldogs, Davey Boy and Dynamite Kid started a violent feud, with a lot of both single and tag team action. After the feud with his former partner, Davey challenged Don Muraco for the Stampede North American Heavyweight Title, which he won in March 1989, he lost the title in April the same year. Davey Boy stayed with Calgary Stampede until 1989. He then decided to go to Europe and Japan.
Under the name of The British Bulldog, Davey Boy Smith returned to the WWF in the end of 1990. By 1992, the British Bulldog was the leading contender for the Intercontinental Title. At Summerslam 1992, in London at Wembley Stadium in front of a capacity crowd of more than 80000 spectators, the two met in a battle for the title. The match went on for nearly 25 minutes, but at the finish, the British Bulldog was victorious, & became the new Intercontinental Champion. After loosing the belt to Shawn Michaels, Davey decided that his time in the WWF was over, so he wrestled some dates in Japan & on the independent circuit.
The British Bulldog made his WCW debut in 1993, but later that year the Bulldog got into trouble outside of the wrestling arena, which involved an assault. As a result, WCW terminated his contract. Before entering the WWF again, he worked for some indy federations, and also wrestled in Europe & Japan.
The British Bulldog made his return to the WWF at Summerslam 1994. Shawn Michaels & the Bulldog entered as number 1 & number 2 respectively, they were the 2 left in the Rumble, but Shawn managed to claim the victory. The Bulldog's first title-shot was against Diesel, but he lost due to interference by Bret Hart. Bret & the Bulldog also had a match for the World Title, but this time with Bret won. In Your House 10, saw the Bulldog and Owen Hart defeat the Smoking Gunns to win the WWF Tag Team Titles.
February of 1999 saw the first ever WWF European Champion crowned, the winner would have to win a tournament to take place in Germany. The final was between the tag team partners Owen and the Bulldog. The Bulldog was the man to become the first ever European Champion, & it seemed like the 2 were soon to split.
The night after Wrestlemania 13, saw Owen get a title shot against his former partner, the Bulldog. The Bulldog was going to use a chair on Owen, but Bret Hart entered the ring. He got them separated, & also told them that he wanted them to join forces with him against Steve Austin, the WWF, & American wrestling fans. They accepted his offer, & the Hart Foundation was founded.
An English PPV, One Night Only, had a main event with the British Bulldog against Shawn Michaels for the European Title. The Bulldog had a bad knee, and Shawn Michaels with D-X focused on the bad knee, and eventually Shawn won the match and the title.
The British Bulldog joined Bret and Jim Neidhart in WCW, after he had recovered from his knee injury.
Davey developed a back infection which kept him out for a long time, & WCW terminated his contract after it was known that he would be out of wrestling action for at least 4 months.
The WWF announced on their website, that they had signed a multi-year contract with the British Bulldog, and that the Bulldog and Diana would have an exclusive sit-down interview with Jim Ross.
On the September 9th edition of Smackdown, the Big Boss Man challenged any dog lovers in the back to come out and face him for the Hardcore Title, the British Bulldog answered his challenge. The Bulldog hit the Boss Man with his own nightstick to win the Hardcore Title. After the match Al Snow stuffed a piece of paper in an out of Boss Man's mouth, then on the ramp, Bulldog handed Snow the belt and patted him on the shoulder, making Al the Hardcore Champion.
The Bulldog helped Al Snow again on Smackdown, September 16, he showed up with a couple of rottweilers during a match between Al Snow & the Boss Man, when the Boss Man saw the Bulldog he made a run for it. The next week on Smackdown, the Bulldog wanted a title shot, which he was promised when he signed with the WWF. Vince McMahon granted his request, by putting him in the main event at the Unforgiven PPV, in a Six Pack Challenge match. The match ended with the Bulldog hitting the Rock with a chair, Austin who was the Special Enforcer, took the chair & hit the Bulldog, Triple H was quick to take advantage of the situation, & scored with the Pedigree on the Rock. SCSA had to make the count for Triple H to get the victory. The next night on Raw, the Bulldog confronted Triple H, he wanted his shot at the WWF Championship, just like they had promised each other. Triple H told him that he lied, & that he wasn't going to give him anything.
On an edition of Smackdown, the British Bulldog went up against Triple H in a title match, where the Rock was the special referee. The Rock wasn't a fair ref, to say the least, & the match ended with the Rock just beating up the 2 superstars. The next weekend, at the Rebellion PPV in England, the Bulldog was mad about not getting a decent title shot, so he threw a trash can across the room, which just happened to hit Stephanie McMahon. The Bulldog battled with D-Lo Brown on Smackdown, October 28, for the European Title. The Mean Street Posse interfered on the Bulldog's behalf, which lead to the Bulldog winning the European Title for a second time.
The Bulldog took on Val Venis and D-Lo Brown at Armageddon in a Triple Threat Match, for the European Title. Val Venis got the victory with the Money Shot on the Bulldog to win the European Title.
The British Bulldog returned to the WWF on Raw Is War, on January 17, he had been out with an injury for a while. He helped Kurt Angle defeat Steve Blackman, he gave
Blackman a low blow, & then hit him with a kendo stick.
The Bulldog & Kurt Angle were defeated by Al Snow & Steve Blackman on Smackdown. The Bulldog also took part in the Royal Rumble, but was eliminated by the Road Dogg quite early on.
The Bulldog made a comeback on Raw Is War, on February 21, in a match teaming up with Kurt Angle against Chris Jericho & Chyna. Y2J & Chyna worked well, but Kirk Angel used the Intercontinental Title belt & the Olympic Slam on Y2J to get the win.
The Bulldog then had to go in rehab for drug abuse, & worked a couple of shows for Stampede Wrestling. He next returned to the WWF at the English PPV, Insurrexion, on May 6, 2000. Crash Holly wanted to defend his Hardcore Title against an Englishman to, so the British Bulldog then made his way out and he won the title with the Running Power Slam. However, he didn't stay Champion for long, & on Smackdown, May 11, he faced Hardcore Holly, but Crash Holly came to the ring & hit Hardcore, Crash pinned him to win the Hardcore Title back.
On Sunday Night Heat, on May 28th, the Bulldog confronted the European Champion, Eddie Guerrero & called him a disgrace. The two had a match, but eventually the match turned into a brawl. They wouldn't stop fighting, & shoved the referee, the match ended in a double DQ.
